StroMed is a technique developed by Cell Innovations to extract Stromal Vascular Fraction from adipose tissue using a clean mechanical process that avoids the use of chemical reagents. This therapy includes Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) other supportive cells.
WHAT ARE THE
ADULT STEM CELLS
Stem cells are powerful cells found in humans and animals that can be divided into embryonic and adult types. Adult stem cells are obtained from adult tissue act as the body's repair system, maintaining and replenishing organs and tissues. They can differentiate into specialized cell types and are found in many tissues. Fat is a rich source of Mesenchymal Stem Cells, which can aid in repairing damaged tissue when grafted into a new location.
HOW IT WORKS
The procedure takes approximately 2 hours and is performed under local anaesthetic. Fasting is not required, but if you have a current illness with fever, we would not perform the procedure. We extract the fat sample from under the skin in the abdominal or loin area, and there are no stitches. It is recommended to avoid excess physical activity for 6 weeks following the procedure, and to bring something to do or read during the 45-minute waiting period while we extract the stem cells from the fat in the lab.

A patient treated with Stem Cell will obtain on average a 75 - 80% improvement in pain and mobility from degenerative knee joint disease (based on in-house clinical studies) after 12 months as measured by standard WOMAC (Western Ontario McMasters Universities Index) for osteoarthritis of knees.
